Columbia (not Kentucky) SC has a fine water tank with a label that this Columbian couldn't resist photographing on recent travels through the Carolinas. Columbia, capital of Adair County, KY, would have to grow many times over to be near the size of this Columbia, the capital of South Carolina (over a hundred thousand people). The following states are among those with cities named Columbia: California, Missouri, Louisiana, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New Hampshire.

Pam and Mike Campbell from St. Louis, MO, are in Columbia visiting their daughter Maggie Coleman and grandsons Gabe and Ty. Son-in-law Mark was on administrative duty in another part of Columbia United Methodist Church at the time the picture was made.

Day Trip: inside the blacksmith shop

Lincoln Homestead State Park includes a replica of the blacksmith shop where Abe's father was reared and learned his trade. Many of the tools are in the shop.

Epicurean Kentuckian: at Black Stallion

Sunday dinner was Santa Fe Tilapia at Black Stallion Steakhouse in New Columbia. The dish is a lightly spicy Tilapia fillet with mushrooms, onions and peppers, served on a bed of seasoned rice. It's topped with Pico and chips. Sides are steamed broccoli and baked sweet potato. Yeast rolls and whipped butter are included. Click on their menu in the What's Cooking section of Columbia Magazine anytime, they are open seven days a week.
