Two older water towers being removed from town

The water tower known as Page Street at the end of Garrett Street, at left, was scheduled to be taken down yesterday, Monday, July 19. Weather permitting, the water tower on Bomar Heights is scheduled to be taken down next week. Watch for traffic delays in both areas of town, and Pine Tree Street may be shut down for a period of time. This is being coordinated through the Columbia Adair Utilities District.

Gaye Shaw retiring at end of year
 2021-07-20 - Metcalfe County, KY - Photo from Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce. At the 2021 Summer Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Breakfast the board of directors announced that Chamber Executive Director Gaye Shaw, at right, will retire at the end of this year after 27 years of service. Kim Harwood will take over the duties of Executive Director on January 1, 2022. On August 2, Kim will begin training. After January 1, Gaye will remain with the chamber in an assistant position two days a week until no longer needed.

KSP aims to win Best Looking Cruiser contest
 2021-07-20 - Woodford Co., KY - Photo courtesy Kentuckky State Police. This year, KSP's photo entry in the Best Looking Cruiser contest features a 2015 Camaro, equipped with a 6.2 liter V8 producing 426 horsepower and a 6-speed manual transmission. The photo was taken at sunrise on a local horse farm in Woodford County.
Voting begins Tuesday, July 20 at NoonET on the AAST Facebook page or you can go directly to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/bestlookingcrusier2021. Voting will end on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at NoonET. The top 13 finishers will earn a spot on the 2022 calendar.

Miss Vicky writes, "Two of four skunks that came out after the downpour at the Hunter Place portion of the Pampered Angus Ranch. The other two went on their way but these two turned when they noticed me. They couldn’t decide what to do next. I didn’t get too close. I had enough problems without getting sprayed."
