New store in Breeding, KY coming along

The former Breeding Country Store was completely razed in recent weeks and a new building is well underway to house a future dollar store on Hwy. 61 between Columbia and Burkesville, KY.

Principal Karla Yarberry Davis a leader in education

Adair County native Karla Davis is principal of Louisville's Greathouse-Shryock Elementary School which has been named a National Blue Ribbon School for the second time. When the award was announced in September Karla shared, "So proud to be a Greathouse Lion today, I'm thankful for our staff and families who work together to help our students Be Their Best!"

Dining at the ACPL Butterfly Station

Since the Adair County Public Library invited local Master Gardeners to help create this Monarch Butterfly Station, these visitors have discovered the blossoms and come to dine on the plants designed to nourish them on their journey. If this picture attempted Monday morning is not quite in focus it's because a bee was challenging for the space - and successfully chased off the photographer.

A look back at Lobb, Kentucky

Lobb is the community name where you could get a Pepsi and Ashland gas when you stopped in at Vance's Grocery. Central Kentucky history like this can be found on the Facebook page by that name managed by Green County native Larry Smith. Maybe readers can guess the year the photo might have been made if they have knowledge of cars like this one.

October 3-9 is National 4-H Week throughout Adair County

Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan and Columbia Mayor Pam Hoots signed a proclamation on Thursday, September 30, 2021, proclaiming October 3-9, 2021, as National 4-H Week throughout Adair County, Kentucky. They were joined at the signing by members of the 4-H Youth Leadership Program.
