I remember my great aunt, Geniece Marcum, explaining in a video or an article about how a persimmon seed predicts the winter. Since then I’ve always wanted to try it. This summer I discovered a persimmon tree on my property and was able to try it! Looks like we will be shoveling snow this winter!

Piecemaker's Quilt Guild creating for Veterans
 2021-10-09 - Metcalfe County, KY - Photo from Gaye Shaw, Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce. The Piecemaker's Quilt Guild in partnership with the VFW and American Legion in Metcalfe County will be accepting application for this year's Quilts for Heroes project. In the past 2 years, 15 quilts have been awarded to our local veterans with plans to continue this endeavor every year.
Chairperson Becky London and member Charlotte Atkins are shown with one of last year's quilts. The public is encouraged to nominate a veteran by submitting an application to the American Legion Post 65, PO Box 540, Edmonton, KY 42129 before October 28, 2021. The quilts will be awarded at the Veteran's Day Ceremony on November 11, 2021. Questions may be directed to Bill Lytle at 270-432-2638.
