Big OCC donation from Providence Baptist Church

Columbia Baptist Church pastor Randy Johnson helps count items that were collected by the Providence Baptist Church for Operation Christmas Child. Even though they are a very small country church Providence Baptist Church goes all in for Operation Christmas Child.

Collection dates for Operation Christmas Child have been set for November 15-22. Once again in Adair County boxes will be collected at the Wheet Fellowship Hall at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene, located at 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia KY.

Collection dates and times are as follows:
  • Monday, November 15: 5pmCT to 7pmCT
  • Tuesday, November 16: 9amCT to 11amCT
  • Wednesday, November 17:5pmCT to 7pmCT
  • Thursday, November 18: 9amCT to 11amCT
  • Friday, November 19: 9amCT to 11amCT
  • Saturday, November 20: 9amCT to 11amCT
  • Sunday, November 21: 1pm to 3 pmCT
  • Monday, November 22: 9amCT to 11amCT

City departments moving into Hudson Street building

The City of Columbia is proud to have secured a grant to combine three departments into one larger location in the former Coomer Building Supply building. The sign will soon have the City logo. Getting things transferred into the new spaces are, from left: Terry Johnson, Craig Lasley, Tim smith, Jackie Chapman, Aaron gaskins.

Free encore performance at LCW Parnell Stadium

The Adair County High School Band was chosen for 3rd place in the state KMEA Class AAA finals Saturday, October 30, 2021. They invite everyone to join them in the free Community Encore performance tonight, Monday, November 1st, at 6:30pmCT at Lindsey Wilson's Parnell Family Stadium.

BFT pro staff media camp held at Holmes Bend Marina

Brushpile Fishing Television pro staff media camp was held recently on beautiful Holmes Bend Marina. Many states were represented with outdoor writers, industry, crappie fishermen, online magazines and television shows; all of these to showcase Holmes Bend Marina, Green River Lake and Adair County. Adair Tourism says "Thanks to David, Kelly, Joey and staff at the Marina for such a great job."

Drew Smith adds art to biggest pumpkin

The state's largest pumpkin was carved by Adair County artist Drew Smith. He has been making art with pumpkins, delighting crowds at schools and around town with his own pumpkins and this year the giant pumpkin he carved was donated to him from the Bayuk farm.

Biggest pumpkin in KY grown in Flatwoods, Adair County

Celebrating the biggest pumpkin in the state at the Adair County Bayuk farm are, from left, Tiffany Fowler, Alaynah Bayuk, Heather Dillon, Lynn Patrick, Shallyn Bayuk, Emmett Bayuk, Mike Patrick, Sean Patrick and Scott Bayuk. The award on the left is from the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth (the organization that sanctions pumpkin growing all over the world). This plaque goes to the first place pumpkin at each weigh off. The plaque at right is specific to the Robert's Family Farm weigh off designating the 15th annual weigh off and and features the logo for the Kentucky Giant Pumpkin Growers club.
