Richard Phelps called for a meeting in the near future of this group, pictured here a few months ago looking at landscape architect Darren Henson's proposed design for the City's 17-acre Burkesville Street Hurt property park. Grant monies are beginning to be identified which may allow for development to begin on the walking path. Committee members who share interests in heritage, history and preservation, are: Robert Flowers, Mary Anne Loy, Linda Waggener, Darren Henson, Richard Phelps, Chuck Rogers and Mayor Pam Hoots. Dreams for the park - as grants can be obtained - include: a walking track, play area, benches, a dog park, restrooms, native plantings, and some form of history documentation for educational purposes. Immediate short term goals include clearing the grounds, creating a half-mile walking trail and parking. The property is not open to the public at this time. The birds begin their long arduous and dangerous journey south for better weather and greater chances of food. Taken on black Friday I observed a flock of black colored birds flying South. (Look in the top left quarter of the frame) Fly safe feathered friends. We will be here for your return. I often think the V could be a good omen for victory or other good battles fought. Epicurean Kentuckian: still giving thanks 2021-11-26 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. It's the day after Thanksgiving yet the gatherings and great meals continue. Instead of turkey, today we enjoyed baked ham, dressing, green beans, real mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and the star of the show - my Mom Geniece Marcum's cheesy lima bean casserole. Dad, Earl Reid, absolutely detested casseroles and didn't didn't want anything to do with mixing up his foods.
