Scenic Kentucky: Drive-in Movie

2021-12-11 - Oldham Co., KY - Photo by Pen.
There are a handful of drive-in theaters still operating in Kentucky, including the Sauerbeck Family Drive In in LaGrange, which has been showing Polar Express this holiday season on their 98-foot screen. Tickets get movie admission for a carload, plus hot cocoa, candy canes, and a meeting with Santa Claus.

I rememer the Columbia Drive-In as having a much larger screen when I saw Star Wars there back in 1977. I like to think that Columbia just has better marching bands and bigger movie screens than anywhere else, but the drive-in may be a childhood memory that wouldn't hold up to accurate measurement. If anyone knows details, or has photos of the old drive-in screen, drop us a line using the links on our comment form.
