Dangerous vortex where Big Clifty meets Russell Creek

Photographer Donna Rieder writes, "This high water scene from the January 1, 2022 storm looks at the vortex at the intersection where Big Clifty Creek feeds into the mighty Russell Creek at the Sam Coffey Hole. The water in the center of the whirlpool is 14-20" lower than the water moving past it. This is another reason people should avoid waterways during flooding; should a person get sucked into that vortex there would be no way to escape."

Parrott competes at 2021 Patriot All-America Invitational

Gracie Parrott, the daughter of Walt and Deana Coffey-Parrott, and granddaughter of Adair County 5th district Magistrate Billy Dean Coffey, finished 37th in the prestigious 2021 Patriot All-America Invitational, held December 27-31, 2021, at The Wigwam Resort.

Taylor County EF-1 tornado had winds of 105-110mph

The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed four tornadoes so far from the January 1, 2022 storms - Campbellsville, Taylor County, was an EF-1 tornado with wind speeds of 105-110 mph. The three others were in Bowling Green, Warren County, EF-0, 85 mph; Union City, Madison County, EF-1, 110 mph; Northwest of Glasgow, Barren County, EF-1, 95 mph.
