Fire looked big but was a small storage building

2022-03-31 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
From across town, this looked to be a big fire. Thankfully it was only a storage building and no people nor homes were hurt. The Columbia Fire Department responded to the Smith Street property and was able to get it extinguished and the nearby house cooled down to prevent major damage.

2022-03-31 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy Mir Ismail Ali.
By Dakota Smith

Meet Mir Ismail Ali from Hyderabad, India. He chose to come to Lindsey because it offers a new scenery, unfamiliar people, and crazy skies. He says, "Kentucky has it all. As new students here, we have the opportunity to experience the LWC culture and everything Kentucky has to offer." Mir Ismail live in Houstan, but the most interesting place he has been is the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. He says, "It's definitely a one of a kind experience anyone can have. It's the type of aquarium that you can only witness at a single place. The foundation made a one of a kind experience for the people's pleasure. I would recommend trying the diving it's really cool."

When moving to the U.S., he experienced many different emotions because he missed his home, family, friends, and Indian food, but he says he bounced back even stronger than he was before! Something he wants to share about his country is the EID parties. He says, "This occasion is intended for enjoyment, forgiveness, and fasting." Let's all welcome Mir Ismail!

Robert writes, "Over the years I've seen the Grand Canyon from three locales, this spot is by far, for me, the most spectacular. The Northern Rim only receives a fraction of the tourism as the popular Southern, but again it's just as, or maybe more beautiful as the Southern."

A closer look. Billy Joe writes, "From all appearances, I believe this Red tail hawk caught a squirrel just as the squirrel entered the hole. In his struggle to pull the squirrel back out of the hole, he slid down the ever narrowing crack and the rest is history."
