Stare MLK Leadership Award given to Dr. John Chowning

The Kentucky Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission presented its 2022 Leadership Award Dr. John Chowning, executive assistant to the president for government, community and constituent relations at Campbellsville University. The senior pastor at Saloma Baptist Church, Chowning has been involved in many endeavors at Campbellsville University including race reconciliation and establishing Dialogue on Race, a project dear to his heart. He has served as a leader of Greater Campbellsville United, whose focus is to create an environment of equality and opportunity for all residents of Campbellsville-Taylor County and the heartland region of Kentucky.

"During my career in the church, higher education and civic engagement, I have felt a call to the ministry of building bridges across lines of race, ethnicity, language, gender and economic status and to help tear down walls and barriers that have too long separated the human race," Chowning said in accepting the honor.

Phillip Coffey with family display at AC Genealogy, History Center

With the passing of Miss Venie Moss, who drowned in the Gradyville Flood, 7 June 1907, her hand-made quilt passed to her mother, Mrs. Nancy Matney Moss. She later gave it to the eldest daughter - Cymbeline Moss Keltner - of her son, John Marshall Moss. Mrs. Keltner graciously gave it to her younger sister, Mrs Venie Moss Coffey, namesake of the maker.

Wildflower: Trout Lily

According to the Wikipedia entry for Erythronium americanum, "the common name 'trout lily' refers to the appearance of its gray-green leaves mottled with brown or gray, which allegedly resemble the coloring of brook trout."

Thunder over Louisville 2022: USMC CV-22 Osprey

One of the country's top air shows returned to downtown Louisville on Saturday, April 23, 2022. At 7:39pmET, a USMC CV-22 Osprey from Marine Tilt Rotor Squadron 204, New River, NC, flew a demonstration flight over the Ohio River.

This year's Thunder airshow honored the 75th anniversary of the United States Air Force.

2022 Heritage Flight at Thunder Over Louisville Airshow

One of the country's top air shows returned to downtown Louisville on Saturday, April 23, 2022, followed by the biggest fireworks show. At 6:31pmET, the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight featured an F-22 and P-51D flying in formation. This year's Thunder airshow honored the 75th anniversary of the United States Air Force.
