A little rain before the Memorial Day Celebration

Pam Shearer and others had to bring out the umbrellas for the start of Friday's Memorial Day Celebration at City Hall to announce the first Veterans Banners all around downtown. Mother Nature let the event go on, however, saving the rain until later in the day. Several family, friends and Veterans came together to remember those who were lost in service.

Remembering William Coy Turner

Joe Hare, VFW Post #6097 leader, and his wife Della were among those in attendance at the City's celebration of the Veterans Banner program as the Memorial Day weekend began. Joe asked everyone to especially remember William Coy Turner, U.S. Army, who lost his life just one month and one day before coming home. The Veterans Banners will be available again in the fall.
