Billy Joe writes, "Black Gum is its most popular common name, but in the Great Wooded South it was always known as Sour Gum. This one is standing right in the heart of the Great Wooded South at about 1090 feet above sea level. For some reference, the Adair County Courthouse is setting at 750 feet above sea level.
