This ad for the Lindsey Wilson Training School appeared in the Adair County News a century ago this week -- early October, 1922. The new gymnasium under construction was part of Lindsey's move from Training School to Junior College status.
A front page article in the same edition reported that a site had been located upon which to erect a house for the principal (later president), Rev. R.V. Bennett and his family, and another site had been selected for an on-campus dairy barn, one large enough to accommodate sixteen head of cattle.
(Within days came a change of plans regarding the principal's home. Instead of putting up a new dwelling place, the Conference bought J.R. Garnett's house -- a "comparatively new residence" -- and planned to have it moved to "within a few yards of the school buildings." Comments | Permalink
