Richard Phelps called for a meeting in the near future of this group, pictured here a few months ago looking at landscape architect Darren Henson's proposed design for the City's 17-acre Burkesville Street Hurt property park. Grant monies are beginning to be identified which may allow for development to begin on the walking path. Committee members who share interests in heritage, history and preservation, are: Robert Flowers, Mary Anne Loy, Linda Waggener, Darren Henson, Richard Phelps, Chuck Rogers and Mayor Pam Hoots. Dreams for the park - as grants can be obtained - include: a walking track, play area, benches, a dog park, restrooms, native plantings, and some form of history documentation for educational purposes. Immediate short term goals include clearing the grounds, creating a half-mile walking trail and parking. The property is not open to the public at this time. Comments | Permalink
