This is Big Blue Lilyturf, commonly known as Monkey grass or Spider grass across The Great Wooded South. It blooms in mid-August and along with spider webs and foggy mornings, is a great mid-Summer marker. This particular plant (Big Blue) generally has longer and wider leaves than does Creeping Lilyturf. We have some of it also. It has an erratic, noticeable, yet slow spreading habit compared to the almost imperceptible and circular spread of Big Blue Lilyturf.
