Larry Joe Smith writes, "This photo, taken before the Green River Lake was built, shows one of the reasons that flood control became reality with the construction of Green River Dam upstream in Taylor County.
"Green River was a wild river before we had flood control and I remember on numerous occasions seeing the Green out of her banks and up to people's houses, barns and even American Legion Park in Greensburg under water.
"This classic picture from the early 1960's displays the Green River out of its banks on Columbia Highway 61 in Greensburg. The barn was where Greensburg Dairy Queen now stands." Comments | Permalink
