A sincere thank-you to our teachers

When I saw Ms Phyllis Curry's reminder that this is Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-7, 2021, I was moved to stop and put words together to share what is in my heart for all teachers in this pandemic year.
When my granddaughter Hailey (pictured here at her laptop) spent some of her virtual school days with me this semester I was amazed to glimpse how hard the job of teaching looked. I already knew how hard it was on the students so I hovered like a helicopter Mema to try and help Hailey, but I hadn't appreciated how difficult it looked for the teacher.
The teacher was at her classroom desk guiding and answering questions in front of her in-person students who had come back to the classroom, so a mask was necessary. At the same time, she was also presenting and answering questions from her "virtual computer desk" for the students who were still online, so the mask made it harder to hear, understand and keep up with the flow.
I came away from the experience awed by how difficult it looked for both the students - and their teachers! Thank you, educators!! - Linda Waggener Comments | Permalink
