Jobs growth is plan for City of Columbia investment

Mayor Pam Hoots presented the Economic Development Project at the February Council meeting which allows the city to purchase the Majestic Yachts property on the corner of Veterans Bypass and Highway 61 and secure a ten year lease with a company providing shelf stable meals and delivery. The company, Synergy Food Group headquartered in Tennessee, promises 50 jobs to start and 300 within five years. A grant through the Lake Cumberland Area Development District will provide $1 million and the City will borrow and invest the balance of $500,000 for the total purchase price of the property.
