This is the first planting of the American Chestnut Germplasm Conservation Orchard at Homeplace on Green River. In partnership with the Kentucky Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation, your Homeplace on Green River is working to preserve local genomes of pure American Chestnut from survivor, local trees or local root collar sprouts, into research orchards.
I will be making more posts to keep everyone updated concerning this important effort. And yes, these first 13 seedlings are from three different crosses on the Charles England, Bull Run, Adair County, surviving American Chestnut! Comments | Permalink
