The case of the reluctant tomatoes

The plan, with 4 tomato plants in the ground just days before the last frost--and then another 4 in the ground to replace those around Mother's Day--was to be over-run with delicious red ripe tomatoes by mid-August, like in those fancy photos from the Farmers Market on the Square.
However, as of August 12, all the 20 or 30 tomotoes on our vines so far are clinging stubbornly to their dreams of a starring role in a Kathy Bates film. If any gardenologists know how to talk to reluctant tomatoes, please use our comment form to send words of wisdom. Comments | Permalink
