Osage Orange fruit - Hedgeapples - are hanging heavily on the trees now or they lay on the ground where they drop from the limbs - much like Walnuts do even though these are larger - waiting to be collected or stepped on. Hedgeapples made prized balls for my young children and their father who taught them to "plunk" them into creeks like small stones.
