Here's another incredible view of the Spurlington Tunnel. The historic train tunnel sits on the Taylor/Marion County line and, at the halfway point in the tunnel, you go from Taylor to Marion County.
These days every historian is looking back, wondering why we didn't act to protect the tracks and the old rail line for tourism and other purposes. Could you imagine having Green River Lake and a railroad still in use with a booming economy? From an industrial aspect this would certainly be beneficial to Campbellsville, Lebanon, Greensburg and Springfield.
These days we still cherish the memories, but now several generations of people have grown up not knowing what is was like when we had the railroad and sounds of the train horns. Comments | Permalink
