Robert writes, "The small community of Elbe, Washington, is just minutes away from one of the entrances to Mt. Rainier. I like photographing old church buildings, and since this one was visible from the highway we decided to pull over and check it out. Turns out it is a nice tourist stop; an active Steam Locomotive operates and originates here, taking passengers to another community named Mineral."
Lettered prominently on the steeple of the landmark Elbe Lutheran Church is "Ev. Luth. KIRCHE" (Evangelische Lutherische Kirche), a reminder of the founders' German origins. (elbehistoricchurch.com) Comments | Permalink
