Travel: Puffins share in raising their babies

2026-08-27 - Iceland - Photo by April Shepperd
Writer/Photographer April Shepperd writes, "Mom and Dad Puffins share parental responsibilities and take turns incubating a single egg. Once their chick hatches, the parents dive up to 60 meters several times a day, emerging with a beak full of fish, eel, herring, and other sea creatures to feed the little one. By late August, the Puffins have gone and will remain at sea until the next year.
