Squirrel's nests are architectural strongholds

Mistletoe, like that on the upper limbs in this picture, grows onto tree limbs, but squirrel's nests, lower left, are architectural marvels that hang on because they are built to. Materials used to construct them are twigs & branches, leaves and vines, human litter like plastic bags or paper, soft fibers, moss and grass, shredded bark and leaves, fur and feathers and acorns and nuts. The nest has multiple entrances. Comments | Permalink
