Painted Hills Of Kentucky

2022-09-26 - Near Gabe, Kentucky - Photo By Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking
Robert writes, "The colorful weeds in full bloom, past bloom, along with Sumacs turning bright red makes for beautiful Fall landscapes in Kentucky.

This photo is a few years old, but if I remember correctly this land was in contract as a CRP Farm. USDA Farm Service Agency's (FSA) Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is a voluntary program that contracts with agricultural producers so that environmentally sensitive agricultural land is not farmed or ranched, but instead devoted to conservation benefits."

Old Creelsboro

2022-09-25 - Russell County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com
Creelsboro, with all its history was in the spotlight for the annual festival Saturday, September 24, 2022. These buildings are just memories, having been torn down not long after this photo was made over 20+ years ago. The Creelsboro, Kentucky landing was a hub of commerce from the 1870s to the early 1900s in the height of the steamboat era and for a time it was Russell County's largest town with its prime location on the Cumberland River below Lake Cumberland and Wolf Creek Dam.
