October 24-28, 2022 is declared Red Ribbon Week by Sources of Strength (SOS) at Adair County High School and Mayor Pam Hoots. Sources of Strength asks, "what are your sources of strength? Mental Health, Family Support, Positive Friends, Medical Access, Spirituality, Generosity, Healthy Activities and Mentors." The Red Ribbon Campaign was established by Congress in 1988 to promote this belief and encourage a drug-free lifestyle and involvement in drug prevention efforts. Since that time, the campaign has reached millions of U.S. children and families, encouraging citizens across the nation to come together to keep children, families and communities safe, healthy, and drug-free; and Red Ribbon Week offers citizens the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to drug-free lifestyles.
