Birds of Kentucky: Ring-necked Ducks

This trio was spotted while traveling out of state, but Ring-necked Ducks are common visitors to Kentucky during migration. All About Birds says to look for them "on smaller bodies of water than other diving ducks. In winter and on migration, this can include beaver ponds, small lakes, marshes, cattle ponds, or even flooded agricultural fields across North America."

Scenic Russell Co, KY - National Natural Landmark

The Rockhouse, Creelsboro Natural Bridge, is a National Natural Landmark. A dedication marker is located at the parking spot near the entrance which reads, "To the public - this Arch was saved from destruction by Thomas Goff and wife, hours of work and a large sum of money. Please enjoy, respect and clean after yourself. - The Goff family."

Desert Storm service map shared by Terry Knifley

Adair County Veteran Terry Knifley donated the map he carried during Operation Desert Storm to the Genealogy and History Research Center. The map documents the areas where Knifley served during the 1991 Gulf War. He was a member of the 623rd Field Artillery Unit. His unit landed in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where they unloaded equipment from the ship Matilda before moving north into Iraq.
