Warm weather bringing out critters

2023-03-01 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Donna Rieder
Donna writes: "I'd like to urge our community members to be aware that warmer weather is causing lots of critters to come out of hiding. When I pulled on my sweatshirt this morning, I felt a sting and my arm came out of the sleeve with this ginormous spider attached to it. One of its fangs was still embedded in my arm, and can be seen in the upper middle of the photo.

The only reason that spider wasn't smashed is because the closest thing I could reach was a can of hairspray ~ it stopped it in its tracks! It was a hunting spider, the kind whose eyes reflect light at night. The females are always huge at maturity. How this one got in the house and down into my sleeve is a mystery!"
