New Columbia resident Vicky Pike writes, "Tracy McCarol, Chad Wheat, Mike Keltner and Jake Spoon check at my tornado siren this morning. Problem diagnosed and Mike Keltner is checking on availablity of parts and who can replace the part for us. Jake is highly interested in weather equipment so he came along to learn. Thanks Jake for all your help.
"They tested the Lindsey Wilson siren and it's working so that only leaves the one in the Walmart neighborhood in need of repair." Comments | Permalink

Congratulations go out to Maddie on winning essay

Metcalfe County Elementary School student Maddie Froehlich is the school AND district winner of the "Why my Grandparent should be the AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year" Essay Contest!
The contest is administered by the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and is open to all 5th-grade students in Kentucky public schools.
Maddie competed against students in 13 counties to win the district prize. She is one of 14 district winners and will receive a plaque and $50 award.
