Wildflower: Dutchman's Breeches

Dicentra cucullaria gets its common name from the white flowers that look like white breeches. According to Wikipedia, the plant contains several alkaloids that may have effects on the brain and heart. It may be toxic and causes contact dermatitis in some people.

Billy Joe writes, "Spotted my first Dry Land Fish of 2023 near the headwaters of Cane Run Creek in Grayson County yesterday.

And if you look about three inches below the little Morel, you will notice a single Sycamore tree seed that had escaped the clutches of the seed pod that contained hundreds of these tiny parachutists. The little speck of a seed suspended in mid-air by the tiny fibers is the miraculous beginning of one of nature's most recognizable trees."
