I was embarrassed to go to Friday's groundbreaking in New Columbia and see this mess adjoining it. Miss Mahindra May have to be called into service along with her trusty bush hog." The pilot memorial was erected in 1958 by American Airlines at the summit of Guadalupe Peak. The six-foot high stainless steel trylon, erected before the authorization of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, commemorates the carriers of transcontinental overland and air mail.
