Vicky Pike writes, "Sure wish the owners of this property listed as a Walmart property would mow and clean their fencerow off. I was embarrassed to go to Friday's groundbreaking in New Columbia and see this mess adjoining it. Miss Mahindra May have to be called into service along with her trusty bush hog."

Travel: The view from Guadalupe Peak

Guadalupe Peak, located in Guadalupe Mountains National Park, is the highest natural point in Texas, with an elevation of 8,751 feet above sea level. The peak can be climbed by a maintained strenuous day hike via the Guadalupe Peak Trail with a 3,000 feet elevation gain at any time of the year, and the reward for the climb is a spectacular view.

Travel: Guadalupe Peak Pilot Memorial

The pilot memorial was erected in 1958 by American Airlines at the summit of Guadalupe Peak. The six-foot high stainless steel trylon, erected before the authorization of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, commemorates the carriers of transcontinental overland and air mail.
