Remembering typing up news in EHN office

When I saw this in a vintage shop recently, I pictured Miss Ruth VanZant, society news editor and office manager in the 1960s Edmonton Herald-News office. She'd answer the classic black rotary dial telephone, "Herald News," listen, nod, say unhuh, ask occasional details, then hang up and pound out a story in no time flat on a typewriter much like this one. I was the high school news reporter and she allowed me to come in after class and use it. She didn't make fun of me, as slow as Christmas on the keys. - LW Comments | Permalink

The summer began with camps and this group was featured in "Shark Week" in the Little Indians Summer Academy. Mrs. Tonya Feese's class took advantage of the Shark props for a photo op! Wishing all teachers, students, staff, drivers, and coaches a great summer! Comments | Permalink
