Historian and retired Postmaster Cora Emma Jessie, at right, enjoyed lunch with family members Thursday at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Sulphur Well. After lunch she was heading for a daily visit with one of her sisters who is not well. First responders on standby through stormy night

Adair Emergency Management Director Mike Keltner is briefing Sheriff Josh Brockman on potential weather events. Staff is on standby for the Sheriff's office, 911 dispatch, road crews and all fire departments for the county should they be needed. The Adair County Annex, 400 Public Square in Columbia, is open for storm shelter in the basement for anyone who may want to utilize it.
