Kentucky Color: Periwinkle and Skipper
2024-08-18 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge
Billy Joe writes, "Our Vinca which is actually a species of Periwinkle, furnished a welcome meal for this Silver Spotted Skipper in the morning sun recently. Skippers have been described as a species that is a go between of butterflies and moths. This skipper has its proboscis sunk deeply in search of nectar and dined upon every single blossom according to my observation." Comments | Permalink Mother Nature

Clayton writes, "I wanted to share a rare photo that I captured on 8-15-2024 during my morning walk on an old country road in the Fairplay area. It's a female opposum carrying her litter on her back. As she was walking if one fell off she would stop and look down at it until it climbed back upon her back and then she would walk on until another one would fall off again."
