"A huge THANK YOU to Mayor Hoots and Chief Burton for taking time out of their busy schedules to come read to our students. Seeing community leaders share their love of reading sends such a powerful message about the importance of literacy and lifelong learning. Our students were engaged, excited, and inspired -- and that's what Read Across Adair is all about! Activities include Thursday - "Reading makes for a bright future!" Wear neon/bright colors; and Friday "Team up to kick off a weekend of reading! Wear your favorite sports team attire."

Several other buildings on the grounds were gutted and any usable lumber was removed, and re-used elsewhere when the town closed down. Only the outer 'shells', mostly stone blocks, remain of the other buildings. This train depot eventually became a casino until it too was finally abandoned."
