A snowy egret makes a somewhat rare appearance at Lake Shelby. All About Birds says that "Plume-hunting for the fashion industry killed many Snowy Egrets and other birds until reforms were passed in the early twentieth century. On the Walmart program -- A blessing for the store was led by Trinity Church Pastor Steve Pescosolido. Adair County High School Choir sang the Star Spangled Banner and ROTC performed the colors in the ceremony to celebrate the grand reopening of Walmart. Comments | Permalink

Walmart Manager Shaunda Soverly handed out grants as part of the store's grand reopening. Trinity Church was given $4,000 for its food pantry, accepted by Ray Fluhr. Friends of Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery were given $1,000, accepted by Lisa Rosenthal and Charmaine Stewart. TJ Community Mission Foundation was given $1,500 and was accepted by Randy Burns.
