Billy Joe says, "A Great Wooded South smoke similar to many thousands I found, sized up, and often ended up working on during the night after fire patrol ended. A Forest Ranger's day was often long and unrelenting! The longest I ever worked continuously was 43 hours. It was against policy then as it still is today but a good soldier finishes the job!" Veronica writes, "I watered the garden and this bird alighted and started acting like he was in the shower. I did not wish to harm the bird, so I slowly shifted the stream of water... He hopped back into it. I did this several times and each time he entered into the shower spray and cleaned himself. It made me smile and laugh aloud. It also reminded me of how desperate for rain we are." Comments | Permalink
