Day Trip: from the Public Square to the Recycling Center

2019-05-06 - Adair County, KY - Photo CM archive photo by Jason Mardis
This Day Trip feature takes us on a pragmatic trip to the Adair Recycling Center, leaving the center of our universe, the Public Square in Columbia, KY, by way of Campbellsville Street, Highway 55 North. In this Jason Mardis drone photo, it shows the four roads leading away from the historic Adair County Courthouse - Campbellsville Street is the artery most visible in the front center of the picture. Going in the circle around the courthouse, Jamestown Street leads off to the left, Greensburg Street to the right, and the Courthouse tower points to Burkesville Street in back of it.

Farm Report: update on Bud and the girls in Greater Bliss

2019-05-06 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Miss Victoria of Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus Ranch, Greater Bliss
The big elm tree is leafed out at the Hunter Place and the girls are gathered around along with a bunch of baby calves probably too small to see. Bud, the bull, is a bit unhappy that he is on the other side of the fence for now to prevent January and February babies being born in the worst of winter. Several have inquired into the whereabouts of the herd at the house in Greater Bliss, New Columbia. Well this 59-year-old is downsizing. The bigger girls went to a fine home here in the county and the steers and smaller heifers went to market as they always do in spring. Don’t worry, I still have plenty to keep me occupied. There is still a handful at the house to keep a watchful eye on the goings on of our ever growing neighborhood. - VP
