Scenic Kentucky: Mammoth Onyx Cave

2019-07-15 - Hart Co., KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler
Kentucky is famous for its fascinating cave systems. A recent trip through a portion of Mammoth Onyx Cave, located in Hart County, provided some of nature's best air conditioning on a 91 degree day. The cave path, which takes tourists only about 120ft deep into the earth, maintains a year round temperature of 58 degrees. The cave also provided a reminder of an old school saying "Stalagmites might reach the roof. Stalactites have to hold on tight!"
