Epicurean Kentuckian: Carnitas Tacos, Broccoli and Plantains

Two places are dear to my heart on Main Street in Shelbyville, KY - my children and grandchildren have businesses there and when I visit, we frequently go to the restaurant just up the street which serves these Carnitas Tacos. The pork is seasoned perfectly and covered with Cilantro, which I love. I've heard people either really like Cilantro or strongly dislike the taste. The sides of my choice are fried Plantains and steamed Broccoli. They serve with it a bit of Tomatillo green sauce that adds great taste and only a little heat. - LW Comments | Permalink

Olivia, age four, prepared for her category at the second annual Farmers Market on the Square pageant Saturday, July 20, 2019. She had her egg basket ready as the perfect prop considering her favorite thing to do is collect eggs from the chickens at her house. Olivia's parents are Nicholas and Shana Palumbo. In the photo at left, she squints into the hot sun as the heat index climbed over the 100 degree mark for the third day this week. At right, she turns to look back at the photographer.
