Just as content as could be. Sixteen-month-old Brixlee loved the music and food available at the Creelsboro Festival on Saturday. She arrived with Ron & Julie Brumley of Jamestown. Comments | Permalink Writer of Creelsboro story proud of festival event

Family - and finally, met the owner. During Christmas I had written a story for ColumbiaMagazine.com about the new Creelsboro Restaurant. I spoke with the owner (a local doctor) on the phone but had yet to meet him in person. Creelsboro was packed with visitors today and it just so happened that we ran into family and the good doctor. Pictured are, from left, Kasey Blue Kessler, Dr. Richard Perkins (restaurant owner), myself, and Aunt and Uncle Dwan & Laverne Hadley. - TK Comments | Permalink Woolly worm predicts a cold winter

The woolly worms have made their appearance! Typically popping up in the fall, the spiky worm freezes during the winter and becomes a chrysalis in the spring. By summer it has become a beautiful tiger moth. Over time, folklore has lead us to believe this worm can predict winter weather - those with thin brown bands mean a harsh winter is coming, wider brown banded woolly worms mean a mild winter, black means a severe winter is coming, and finally very light brown or white woolly worms mean a snowy winter. If true then this huge fellow warns us to prepare for a very cold season. Comments | Permalink Older Photos
