Flatwoods School sits behind Santa Fe Baptist Church

2019-09-23- Photo by Mike Watson
Sheltered by trees and adjacent to Santa Fee church, the Flatwoods School is a well-kept secret of local history and Adair's educational past. It is one of the few one-room schools still standing in Adair County that has not been radically changed in appearance for other purposes. It is also the only one of five Rosenwald Schools in this county still standing, and structurally is considered one of the best preserved in the State.

Volunteers worked on all sides of the Rosenwald School

2019-09-23 - Flatwoods, Adair County, KY - Photo by Mike Watson
The Rosenwald School was in the spotlight Saturday during the day of service in the Flatwoods. Everyone was taking pictures of Bobby Morrison who was up in the bucket truck working on siding in the bright morning sunshine. All the while he was saying, "don't take my picture, get all those many others working at different posts all around the school."
