You'd have thought you were at Sulphur Well but didn't have to drive that far for this traditional south central Kentucky meal. Country ham, homemade biscuits and red eye gravy made for the anchor of the meal served at Picketts Chapel UMC's annual fundraiser. Fried apples, stewed potatoes, coleslaw and green beans with james and jellies on the side, plus drinks of choice, added to it. Donations were accepted for the all you could eat meal.

A portion of Old River Road paralleling the Salt River in Anderson County opens Saturday, March 7 to anglers wishing to fish the headwaters of Taylorsville Lake for the spring white bass run. As spring nears and water temperatures approach the low 50s, white bass will "run" from downstream up into the headwaters to spawn, providing fast and exciting fishing action.
