Larry Joe Smith writes, "This photo, taken before the Green River Lake was built, shows one of the reasons that flood control became reality with the construction of Green River Dam upstream in Taylor County.
"Green River was a wild river before we had flood control and I remember on numerous occasions seeing the Green out of her banks and up to people's houses, barns and even American Legion Park in Greensburg under water.
"This classic picture from the early 1960's displays the Green River out of its banks on Columbia Highway 61 in Greensburg. The barn was where Greensburg Dairy Queen now stands." Comments | Permalink Shopping trip at Wednesday Farmers Market

Red and Yellow Cherry tomatoes from Sandy Scott and Debbie Burris (D&D Farms), cukes from Tim Blackaby (Blackaby Hill Farm), red onions from Darrel Andrew (Andrew Farm). All this beautiful produce will be showcased in the Market Salad Special, along with Honey from Donna Jones (Big Black Dog Farms) at The Crazy Calf Lady's Kitchen this Saturday. (7/24/2021) Come on out and support all your friendly neighborhood farmers. They work hard, so you can eat good!" Comments | Permalink School safety meeting
