Early moments of dawn in Gradyville

2021-08-18 - Adair County, KY - Photo by David Goguen
"There is a time in the early moments of dawn, before the light reveals the true nature of color to us, when the landscape is blue and gray. We have a choice of how we look at that blue and gray. We can see it in terms of being either drab and depressing, or we can see it as the background of a canvas for a painting that is about to exist. The same holds true when taking a photograph. The key here is, if we are to seriously look at the spiritual benefit of photography, we must be able to use it as a vehicle of capturing the emotion we feel or would like to feel in any given moment in the visual world. If we can do that, then light becomes not only a condition of the visual world, but the inner world as well. So, basically what I am saying, is that photography can be a pathway to your inner world, if you want it to be." - David
