Trabue Russell House gets ready for special event

Appreciating the Healthcare Community

The Governor declared August 22 to August 28, 2021 as Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week and Adair County Judge Executive Gale Cowan and Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots proclaimed it Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week here. They met with leaders at TJ Health Columbia Tuesday to sign the proclamation. In the photo with Mayor Hoots and Judge Executive Gale Cowan are: T.H. Regional Health CEO Neil Thornbur, EVP Jim Lee, Bill Edwards, nurses Shelby Hatcher, Tammy Thomas, EMS representatives Daryl Flatt, Andrew Wooley, Jason Upchurch, Lee Powell, and Wayne Ray.

Ernest Rainwater and the giant pumpkin (Oct 1977)

This photo ran with an Around Adair in October of 1977, and got noticed as far away as Louisville. The caption read "Ernest Rainwater, Route 1, Knifley, has raised the biggest pumpkin ever seen in these parts. The pumpkin weighs 185 pounds, and measures 28 inches in diameter and stands 24 1/2 inches tall."
