Crepe Myrtle will be missed

I'll be missing the beautiful summer Crepe Myrtle blossoms on my walks downtown. Their season of color has brightened days and their shade has lessened heat but as Jelaine Harlow signs off on her email messages, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." - Ecclesiastes 3:1. Crepe Myrtle is closing out as we enter Fall. - LW

Historian at work

Daniel Trabue, builder of the one-and-a-half-story brick home on the bluff overlooking Columbia, was portrayed by Columbia historian Richard Phelps at the 200th anniversary celebration of the historic Trabue Russell House. If you missed getting to talk with him, Richard will be on hand at this Saturday's festival in historic Creelsboro, KY impersonating Elijah Creel.

Festival Saturday in Creelsboro near Rockhouse

The Creelsboro Festival will be held in Russell County on the Cumberland River this Saturday, September 25th with music and booths opening starting at 10amCT. Plan a little extra time to take a walk at the Rockhouse Bottom natural arch.
