Scenic Adair County: The Look of Fall

It's beginning to look a lot like late fall and Halloween around these parts. With drying crops and leaves beginning drifting away from their limbs, it can't be long until we see frost and signs of winter. Comments | Permalink The shape of things to come?

Adair County's historic courthouse with possible changes was a topic of discussion at the October 12 Fiscal Court meeting. Once the additions "wings" from the 1970s are removed, the Courthouse could be back to its original shape as shown here. This view is from the Greensburg Street entry to the Public Square, looking at First National Bank before it was modernized to its present look. Will Reynolds, age 11, fifth grader at Adair County Elementary School, enjoys the new Genealogy Department of the Adair County Public Library. He was studying history during a visit Wednesday and says he frequently reads at the library where his Aunt Lee Ann Jessee is the Director. He looked over documentation of churches of Adair County about Freedom Church of Christ on this day. He and his family attend Russell Heights Baptist Church in Columbia.
I was there to get more details of the Adair County communities map for Tami Wilson who noted on our photo of the map that a full picture was needed to see every name, and also to get proof that a community is missing from that drawing, the community of Pyrus, KY. Those facts will be coming up tomorrow on CM. - Linda Waggener Comments | Permalink Older Photos
