Kentucky Color: Pignut Hickory

2021-11-06 - Central Kentucky - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge

Squirrels will eat them but only after depleting most other sources of food. The big tree in the background is Chestnut oak. Generally speaking, Chestnut oak has the thickest, most deeply furrowed bark of any other Eastern Hardwood species.
